PeerVida delivers bilingual peer support training — including single CEU courses, multi-hour topic bundles, and complete facilitator kits — all grounded in lived experience and national standards.
Peers are individuals with lived experience of mental health, substance use, or trauma who support others through trust and connection. They are professionally trained using national standards for ethical, person-centered, and culturally responsive care.
Depending on the setting, peers may:
• hold space during distress
• co-create safety plans and goals
• support de-escalation
• lead peer groups
• link people to local resources
Peer support is voluntary, recovery-based, and grounded in national standards from SAMHSA, NAADAC, and INAPS. Peers are certified in all 50 states, and in most, their services are reimbursed by Medicaid and insurance programs. Peer support can complement clinical care by expanding access through mutuality, hope, and lived experience — especially for those facing stigma, cost, or systemic barriers.

About PeerVida
Hi, I'm Bethea — a curriculum designer, nationally certified peer specialist, and former Spanish teacher with years of experience in high schools and at the university level, where I taught language and pedagogy. Like many peers, my path shifted after personal challenges reshaped how I understood support, connection, and purpose in life.
That turning point led me to work over four life-changing years in a walk-in crisis center in a beachside community — where I sat with people in real-time distress and learned how support shows up when it’s stripped down, honest, and human.
I’m also a wife, a mother, and someone with family across the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean. We're taking time to travel and live at a different pace — and along the way, I’ve built this space to share peer-informed tools. What you’ll find here is simple, thoughtfully made, and designed to meet you where you are.
“You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.”
— Rumi, 13th-century poet and Sufi mystic
